Chinese Chicken Masala:
Ingredients:
For Marination:
- 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Masala:
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Green onions for garnish
Instructions:
Marination:
- In a bowl, mix the boneless chicken pieces with soy sauce, oyster sauce, Chinese five-spice powder, ginger paste, garlic paste, salt, and pepper.
- Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Cooking:
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or a large pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry until it is cooked through and slightly browned. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
Prepare the Masala:
- In the same pan, add a bit more oil if needed.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent.
- Add sliced bell peppers and mushrooms, and stir-fry until they are tender yet crisp.
Combine:
- Return the cooked chicken to the pan with the vegetables.
- Add tomato ketchup, soy sauce, oyster sauce, red chili powder, sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Mix everything well and let it cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.
Garnish:
- Garnish with chopped green onions.
