Pad Thai Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz rice noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup tofu, cubed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 1/2 cup chopped peanuts
  • Lime wedges for garnish

For the Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons fish sauce (or soy sauce for a vegetarian version)
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)

Instructions:



  1. Prepare Noodles:

    • Soak the rice noodles in hot water for about 20-30 minutes until they are soft but still firm. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, mix together the fish sauce (or soy sauce), tamarind paste, sugar, and chili powder. Adjust the quantities to achieve the right balance of sweet, sour, and salty flavors.
  3. Stir-Fry Tofu and Vegetables:

    • Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large pan over medium-high heat. Add tofu cubes and stir-fry until golden brown. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
    • Push the tofu and garlic to one side of the pan and pour the beaten eggs into the other side. Scramble the eggs until they are just set.
  4. Combine Ingredients:

    • Add the soaked and drained rice noodles to the pan. Pour the prepared sauce over the noodles. Toss everything together until well combined and heated through.
  5. Add Vegetables:

    • Add bean sprouts and sliced green onions to the pan. Toss for an additional 1-2 minutes until the vegetables are slightly cooked but still crisp.
  6. Serve:


    • Garnish with chopped peanuts and lime wedges. Serve hot.
